Newcastle Municipal/Keele Golf Club, Keele Road. (1974 - 2015)

Appeared as Newcastle Municipal and Keele Golf Course.

The 18-hole parkland course was designed by Fred Hawtree. It was opened in 1974 by Tony Jacklin and Peter Oosterhuis. The undulating course made its way through mature trees on the Silverside side of Keele Road with views of the Staffordshire Moorlands in the distance.

There was also a nine-hole short course.

From the Staffordshire Sentinel Friday 24 October 1975 - "A steering committee for the proposed new golf club at the Newcastle Municipal golf course was elected at a packed meeting at Newcastle last week."
