Ardsley Golf Club, Barnsley, Yorks.

First appeared in the 1930s when the secretary was J Leonard Potts, Stairfoot, Barnsley. The professional was H Burrows and the green-keeper G Dalton. 9-hole course with a membership of about 100. Course records were, amateur A E Jones 36, professional H Burrows 33. Visitors’ fees were 1/6 a day and Sunday play was permitted.

In 1940 the secretary was A W Lazenby, “Moorlands” Crown Hill Road, Barnsley and the green keeper G W(D)alton. The 9-holes had a SSS of 34 and a membership of 120. Amateur course record now held by C E Baines 34. The railway station at Stairfoot was ½ mile away.
