Kenwood (Ken Wood) House Golf Course, Hampstead. (1900s)

From the Edinburgh Evening News Friday 15 October 1909; “Grand Duke’s Course – Ben Sayers, sen., is busy laying out a course on the Ken Wood Estate, between Highgate and Hampstead. The Grand Duke Michael of Russia, who has done much to stimulate golf in Cannes and the South of France generally, has taken a long lease of Ken Wood from the Earl of Mansfield.” 

From the Exeter & Plymouth Gazette Wednesday 1 July 1914; “The present occupant of Ken Wood House is The Grand Duke Michael of Russia who, since he went into residence there, has transformed the place into one of the most delightful seats in London, with its own private golf course, rifle range, and game reserves.”
