From the Sheffield Daily Telegraph Wednesday 29 May 1907 -"The departure of Donald Pettinger to Brighton left the Baslow club without a professional, but I hear that on Monday last T Gidlow took up the duties, and has forsaken cricket for golf. He learned his cricket at Nottingham with the amateurs, but later with several clubs before going to the Baslow club five years ago. He has been their as professional ever since, but has learned golf, and plays the game quite well."
