Bushey Golf & Country Club, Watford. (1980 – 2018)
The Bushey Golf & Country Club was founded in 1980. It was later known as Bushey Country Club. The nine-hole undulating parkland golf course was open to the public and had panoramic views of the Hertfordshire countryside. It was a tight, testing and sloping course with narrow fairways.
The course was run by the Hertsmere Leisure Trust, which managed Hertsmere Borough Council’s leisure contract. It was given notice to end its arrangement to operate Bushey Country Club 1 April 2018. Hertsmere Leisure Trust informed the council that with five years of on-going losses on the country club’s management contract it had made the operational delivery untenable.
