From the Durham County Advertiser Friday 27 February 1914 – “Crook Golf Club – At the annual meeting of the Crook Golf Club it was stated that the Mown Meadows Estate had been acquired for the purposes of a golf course for Crook. The election of officers was as follows; President, Mr Wm. Pallister; Treasurer, L C Ward; Secretary, J Tullochson; Committee; Messrs., G Lax, W E Ayton, S A Mettick, W L Powell, Dr W Mackay, Mr Schwarts and Dr Steel; Captain, F W Manson. Mr J R Hodgson was elected an honorary member. There will be no Sunday play.”
