At an extraordinary meeting held in York on Wednesday 4 December 1913 it was decided to extend the course to 18 holes, and also to erect a clubhouse. Mr O G Taylor, the chairman, who outlined the scheme, said that the greatly increased membership during the previous two years had led to considerable congestion on the current nine hole course and in order to alleviate the problem it was proposed to enlarge the course by taking an extra 15 acres near Narburn Road. Captain Key, the president, and owner of the land, offered the club immediate possession. The new clubhouse would be situated about midway between the current course and the proposed new nine holes. If the scheme was passed they would be committed to an expenditure of about £2,500, and it was proposed that the club should be formed into a limited liability company by guarantee. It was also proposed to raise the annual subscription, making it two guineas for gentlemen and one and a half guineas for ladies, so far as existing members were concerned, and three guineas and two guineas respectively for new members. The meeting cordially agreed theses suggestions by resolution.
