The club appeared prior to WW1.

The club had a 9-hole course. Great Lever amalgamated with Farnworth and District to form Great Lever and Farnworth Golf Club following WW1. 

Great Lever and Farnworth are listed as separate clubs in the newspaper article below from 1914.
