The following report appeared in the Burnley Express on Saturday Febrursy 15th 1913 - "A number of members who recently seceded from the Heights Golf Club, Accrington, on account of the Heights Club having put a ban on Sunday golf, have formed a new club known as the Baxenden & District Club."

In October 1917 the tenancy of the Heights Golf Club on land near Lower Whithams Farm was terminated. The club were to dispose of the whole of its effects; Weather Boarded Structure with matchboard lining, approximately 27ft x 12ft, with three widows, double door, and two outbuildings; lockers, stoves, ladders, rollers, mowers, posts and tools. Particulars were available from the secretary at, 241 Avenue Parade, Accrington. 

It was reported in August 1918 that Private T Dewhurst age 26, Seaforth Highlanders, and one of the founder members of the Heights Golf Club, had been killed in action.
