Cleveleys and Rossall Golf Club, Blackpool. (1910 - 1938)
The club was appearing in a town guide prior to WW1 and continued until 1938.
Following is an extract from a report from the Liverpool Echo in August 1915 – “Golfers are to the “fore” in their help of Red Cross Hospitals. The Cleveleys & Rossall Golf club have arranged an attractive match for the 21st of August. The players will be three professionals; Harry Simpson of St Annes, third in the Open Campionship 1914; Arthur Simpson of Knott End; D McKenzie, Cleveleys Hydro; and J D Birnie the Cleveleys amateur.”
In the match Arthur Simpson of Knott End created a new record for the course; Out – 4,3,3,4,3,3,4,5,3 = 32; Home – 4,4,4,2,4,3,5,6,3 = 35; Total 67. There were about 600 spectators and it was expected that the sum raised for the Red Cross would be between £50 and £60.

In July 1931 Mr J Pickup of Colne Road, Burnley, holed in one at the 120 yard seventh hole.
Result of the president’s prize played in September 1933; S Woodworth, 79-6-74; J Hall, 80-5-75; W Hardman, 83-6-77; E Richardson, 87-9-78; B R Blunt, 92-12-80. Considering there was a gale blowing the scores were very good.
The four finalists for the Carados prize met on Saturday 16 September 1933. The following returns were made; J Hall, 74-7-67; S Brook, 89-17-72; D Brunton, 80-7-73.

In the later years the secretary was T Brunton and the green-keeper J Dearden. In the early years it was listed as being 18-holes, it had reduced to 9-holes (SSS of 66) by closure. Visitors’ fees were 2/6 a day and 10/- a week and Sunday play was allowed. Railway stations at Thornton, Blackpool and Fleetwood.
