Stonyhurst Golf Club, Lancashire. (1894 - 1970s)

Founded 1894/5.

A 9-hole private course with good greens situated at the foot of a slope that led up to Longridge Fell.

Visitors were only admitted on introduction. The station at Whalley was 4 miles away.

In 1914 the secretary was the Reverend C E Simpson, Stonyhurst College, Blackburn.

In 1923 the secretary was the Reverend P J Wilson, Stonyhurst College, near Blackburn. Telephone Whalley 23.

In 1940 and 1947 Stonyhurst College was listed as a private club with a membership of 40 the secretary was D J Fearhill who also held the course record of 74.

From 1951 to 1960 it appears that Stonyhurst played over the Clitheroe and Stonyhurst College courses.

In 1964 the secretary was A F Rickards.

It disappeared in the early 1970s when the secretary was T Burroughs.
