Midleton Golf Club, County Cork. (1890s - 1920s)

First mention of a course was in 1896 with a nine-hole links at Midleton College. Its proud boast of the time was “The best school links in Ireland.” 

A later club was founded in Middleton in 1909.

A nine-hole course with natural and artificial hazards was close to the town and railway station. The secretary and captain was Thomas Forde. Subs for men were £1/10s and £1 for ladies.

The club was still in existence in the 1920s. In 1921 honorary life membership was given to Mr W Bren when he moved from the area.   

It was reported in February 1923 that after heavy storms in the area portions of the Midleton golf links were underwater. Whether this had anything to do with the clubs demise is not known.
