Clifden Golf Club, Aillebrack, Co. Galway. (1930s)

Brief mention of a Clifden Golf Club at Aillebrack in the early 1930s.

In July 1930 President of the Executive Council of the Irish Free State, William Thomas Cosgrove, toured the West of Ireland. Whilst on his travels he played on the Aillebreck golf course.

The following is from the Evening Herald (Dublin) Thursday 31 July 1930 – “The President played a game of golf on the new golf course of the Clifden Golf Club at Aillebrack. He commented very favourably on the greens and fairways, which are in excellent condition. The course is magnificently situated close to the seashore, and the land and seascapes are of surpassing beauty.”
