The first nine-hole course was laid out over the Garbally Demesne.
The club moved to its current location in 1924.

Offaly Independent Saturday 6 August 1910 – “Ballinasloe Golf Club – Compliment to Rev T J O’Connor – On Tuesday last, his friends of the Ballinasloe Golf Club presented the Rev T J O’Connor with a very handsome Ebony Walking Stick, silver-mounted, as a slight testimony of their regard, on the occasion of his leaving on promotion, Ballinasloe, where he has made hosts of friends during his mission here as a zealous priest, and as the possessor of many excellent social qualities. We wish him all God speed in his new mission.”
