Merrylea/Langside Golf Club, Glasgow. (1890s) 

It was reported in October 1894 that Willie Fernie, the Troon professional, had laid out a new nine-hole course on two fields at Langside. The total length of the course was 2,200 yards the longest hole was 300 yards and the shortest “an iron shot.”

It was also stated that the “turf was of a texture that would lend itself to the making of a good course”

The club became Cathcart Castle Golf Club when a nine-hole course was laid out at Castle Mains in 1899.

The Ordnance Survey Map below shows Merrylea Farm (bottom of map) in the 1890s.
