Salen Golf Club, Mull, Argyll & Bute. (1920s - WW2)
First appeared in the early 1920s.
A 6-hole, testing, hilly course beside the sea with holes varying from 60 to 190yds, it had a SSS and Par of 63. Membership stood at about 50. The amateur course record was held by A Cattanach 62. The Salen Hotel was situated alongside the course. Sunday play was not allowed. The pier at Salen was about ½ mile from the course.
In 1930 visitors’ fees were 1/- a day.
In 1935 visitors’ fees were still 1/- a day, and 2/6d a week. In 1940 and 1947 visitors’ fees were 1/6d a day and 2/6d a week.
