First appeared in 1908.
Opening of the first course in July 1908.

Report on the annual meeting in April 1909. Note the move to a new course mentioned - "It was decided to proceed at once with the necessary improvements to put the course in good playing order for the new season. As Salen, Mull, is now becoming a favourite resort of summer visitors, the new golf course should prove an added attraction."
The earlier club closed prior to WW1.
The club was revived following the Great War with a short lived five-hole course on the Hotel Grounds.

During the 1930s it was listed as a 6-hole, testing, hilly course beside the sea with holes varying from 60 to 190yds, it had a SSS and Par of 63. Membership stood at about 50. The amateur course record was held by A Cattanach 62. The Salen Hotel was situated alongside the course. Sunday play was not allowed. The pier at Salen was about ½ mile from the course.
From the description of the course given above it seems that the club may have moved back to the Hotel course(to be confirmed).

From the Oban Times and Argyllshire Advertiser Saturday 22 May 1937; "SALEM (MULL) GOLF CLUB - Members of this club began their Coronation Day celebrations with a mixed foursomes competition, prizes for which were presented by Mr William Sutherland MacKay, Aldersyde. There was a full gathering of the club, and before starting play they were photographed on the first tee by Dr Reginald Macdonald, Salen. The prize winners were; Mr A C Whyte, Ravensdale and Mrs MacKenzie, Pier House (75); Mr A Cattanach, Torlochan and Miss Mac Dougall, Glenleedle (79)."
Salen Golf Club had disappeared by 1951.
