Vogrie Golf Club, Gorebridge, Midlothian. (1989 – 2017)
The 2,530 yards par 33 nine-hole municipal golf course was located within Vogrie Country Park six miles south of Edinburgh.
It was reported that the course was to close on 1 April 2017. The closure was being put forward to meet the council’s overall budget deficit. It also adds: “Despite trying different ways to increase patronage, this has proved difficult in part due to the general decline in the numbers playing golf and the readily available suitable alternatives.”
It is understood that there are plans to privately lease out the land, possibly as a caravan park.
Listed in the 1998 and 2004 Golf Course Guide as a nine-hole course of 5,060 yards, SSS 66.
The golf course is also listed in the Golfer’s Handbook during the 2000s.
