Radvany Castle Hotel Golf Club, Hungary. (1937 – 1947)

This golf course was laid out during the late 1930s in Fuzzeradvany park, a pearl of the Zemplen region in North-East Hungary.

The castle itself was designed by Miklos Ybl, a famous architect, in romantic-eclectic style. It was open as a luxury hotel between 1937-48 with swimming pool, golf-, shooting-, ski- and sledge courses.

In February 1943 Deutsche Golfzeitung reported that Dezső Lauber just finished the work for Count Karolyi Radvany building the first 9 holes of the planned 18-hole golf course, which was already mentioned in the 1939 Golfer’s Handbook. The first two competitions on the course took place on 9 October 1942 and 23 September 1943.

The golf course at Radvany castle was last mentioned 1951 in the Golfer’s Handbook. According to the book 100 Years of Golf in Hungary published by the Hungarian Golf Federation in 2011 the castle was nationalized in 1947 and the golf course closed.
