Balaton Golf Club, Hungary. (1930 -1936)

In the Karika Valley near Balatonföldár a new 9-hole golf course based on Deszó Laubers design was opened around 1930. The course was 3.325 yards long. The golf professional Wolf from Vienna was put in charge training the new golfers. It is believed that the course only existed for a couple of years due to the low number of visitors.

The 1931 Continental Golf Yearbook published by Editions Plumon from Paris states the following: “The links are situated in the valley named << Karika >> situated within five minutes from the golf hotel and from the eminence which surrounds it and has the vast picturesque sight on the mountains bordering the opposite cost and on the romantic peninsula of Thivan [Tihany] stretching out just opposite in the lake.

Owing [to] the extraordinary undulating area and to [the] variety of natural obstacles all the portions [of the golf course] are entirely different… this course is very sporty.”
