Golf Club Castello La Bastardina, Italy. (1994 – 2015)

The closure of Golf Club Castello La Bastardina dates back several years. As early as 2015, reports referred to the club’s liquidation and serious maintenance issues affecting the course. The 9-hole layout, situated at Agazzano in the province of Piacenza, encountered a number of difficulties, including a fungal disease that damaged the turf and the absence of an adequate irrigation system.

Located in Italy’s Emilia-Romagna region, Golf Club Castello La Bastardina featured a 9-hole course measuring 2,904 metres from the gentlemen’s tees, with a course rating of 35.5 and a slope rating of 138. From the ladies’ tees, the course played to a length of 2,546 metres.

The website greenpassgolf.net offered the following description of the course (translated from Italian):

“The course is very varied, alternating between uphill holes (1, 6 and 9), downhill holes (2 and 4), holes running along the hillside (3), and holes with raised greens (5), all set amidst centuries-old oak and chestnut woods, with a splendid castle dominating the landscape.”
