Craig Fields Golf Course, Radyr, South Glamorgan. (1920s)

First appeared in the early 1920s, Craig Fields was a private course at Ty Myndd, Radyr, on land owned by Sir Beddoe Rees (1877 – 1931). There is some confusion as to whether the course was of six or nine holes. Sir Beddoe Rees moved into Ty Mynydd in the early 1920s.

The Craig Fields is now part of a housing estate (one of whose roads is named Cae’r Graig). The M4 runs close by.

Reminiscence of the former course – “We played golf on Sir Beddoe Rees’s course on the Craig Field. It was properly set out with greens. I never saw Sir Beddoe Rees himself but I remember once he tried to get the bailiff to close the footpath that went through the Craig to the Laundry by blocking it off.”
